Operations Manager - Hydraulics
In support of a firmly established family-owned hydraulic cylinder manufacturing company in Hereford, we are seeking a NEW Operations Manager to work in partnership with the Managing Director and support the continued development of their operational focus, personnel and performance.
Based from their manufacturing site in Hereford, this position is to in principle to focus on improved process management and output working with the existing modern manufacturing capability and experienced personnel, whilst supporting NPI and development requirements.
The Operations Manager will be measured and targeted to improve overall output and cost performance as well as reduce WIP and further develop this established company.
In addition, the Operations Manager will focus on:
- Improving product scheduling for all areas based on MRP forecasting.
- Supporting WIP and cost of WIP reduction through improved planning and process management. This will include reducing scrap and stock holding.
- Identifying how 'time' losses can be improved, and operational performance can be standardised in line with customer demands.
- Reviewing and improving process throughout the operational process from point of sale through to aftermarket repair.
- Tracking production performance (SQDCP) and target improvement.
- The improved management of new customer demand management including small batch sizes which currently disrupt existing production flow.
- Working with the Managing Director to support current and develop future new business generation demands, including potential changes to operations and manufacturing capability.
- Working closely with the internal teams to ensure accurate business project development success and delivery.
- Developing the internal teams and direct reports.
- Support the focus on health and safety elements for the organisation.
To support this role, you will need:
- Strong structured problem-solving skills ideally based around Six Sigma methodologies
- I.T. literate with strong knowledge of Excel and where possible with EFACS.
- Your ability to maintain rapport, work with and motivate colleagues internally with staff & externally with customers.
- Well-organised and able to work confidently in a fast-paced working environment.
- Good time management skills.
- Willingness to learn and progress.
- Ideally have experience in a FMCG / Automotive sector or similar business environment.
- Higher level Engineering qualification (HNC/HND or above).
- Some form of formal Six Sigma or related training.
- Training in analysis and the use of statistics.
