We have an excellent opportunity within a large educational facility to lead the transformation of an existing security ID card operation covering a vast number of areas as a Technical Security Operations Manager.
Purpose of the Post:
The post holder leads and manages the operation of technical security services for Community Safety and Security. This incorporates the Lenel Security Access Control System (SACS) and other access control (ANPR), fire alarm monitoring, building security systems, Emergency alert systems, Communication Systems, Radio, and Key management across all campuses. This role requires a hands-on leader with a deep technical understanding of security tools, processes, and strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Management
- Lead and manage the office that provides administration services for Access control and ID cards
- Lead and support the wider Community Safety and Security staff on matters of protective security, including safe and secure operations that utilise technical security solutions
- Lead on ensuring the team has a set of operational requirements that can be used to determine security system requirements
- Provide expertise and support to colleagues in Professional Services in best practice, and taskingcontractors, and Imperial projects
- Attend relevant Project Engineering Review Meetings (ERM) and Technical Advisors Group Meetings (TAG), acting as advisor for team operational requirements
- To act as lead for technical security solutions when collaborating with external partners and emergency services
- Undertake management duties that support the operational resilience of the department, this includes supporting events, out of hours cover, and occasional weekend working
- Manage, mentor, and develop the team, providing guidance and support to enhance their skills and capabilities
Technical Security Operations
- To provide a comprehensive service that delivers on protective security requirements
- Manage and lead on daily operational activities, as well as plan for emergency and escalating incidents
- Maintain an overview of all technical security systems to optimise functionality and maintenance in protecting our community and assets
- Ensure comprehensive operating procedures exist for daily operational activity that maximises safety for the Imperial community, including necessary training and instruction for staff who deliver services
- Provide regular audit of the operating systems to maximise on maintenance and repair programme, working closely with the Maintenance team and other services
- Support and advise on the development of Technical Security solutions in line Digital Campus and operational requirements of protective security strategy
Skills Required
- Qualification in Protective Security or equivalent experience
- Previous proven experience of working in an ID card or similar protective security environment such as Higher Education, Healthcare or Publicly Accessible spaces
- Proven experience of managing and working with Technical Security systems and project
- Experience of managing and motivating staff
