Siemens Energy Management is looking for a Commercial Project Manager for our Project Business in Manchester. In this role you will ensure efficient implementation of all financial aspects during the lifecycle of our projects. As part of the Project Management team you will act as counterpart to the Project Manager and be in close interaction with the other project team members and stakeholders in order to ensure a successful project execution. You will be responsible to contribute to an optimal project control and ensure true and fair project reporting together with the Project Manager towards project stakeholders.

You will be responsible for the completion of all commercial related matters. Furthermore supporting the respective Project Manager in all other areas with the objective of executing the project according to the defined Project Management (PM) standards, customer requirements and the applicable Financial Reporting Guidelines (FRG).

Areas of Responsibility:

  • Supports the PM in managing and optimising targeted financial results (e.g. project gross profit, cash flow, assets and financing instruments)

  • Ensures an adequate handover phase, analyses customers requirements, examines their commercial and contractual feasibility and transferability

  • Supports the PM in identifying, evaluating, assessing risks & opportunities, strategies and response activities and ensures correct methodology for evaluation of risk and opportunities

  • Ensures the accuracy of cost and pricing calculation as well as overall project books and records, incl. recording of such in appropriate systems, e.g. SAP

  • Prepares commercial documentation for regular project status meetings and ensures the accuracy of the commercial project data

  • Ensuring timely applications for payment from the customer are made.

  • Ensure timely contractual notifications are made to the customer.

  • Actively performs asset management, initiates invoicing according to project progress and contractual terms and ensure proper payment allocation (onshore/offshore/consortium)

  • Supports the PM in identifying, minimising non-conformance costs and establishing an appropriate reporting structure; supports the implementation of lessons learned into own project and the organisation in general

  • Manage the risks, contracts and claims, ensuring compliance with Limit of Authority guidelines for commercial aspects, e.g. risk management process

  • Leads (commercial) project members to act according to the Business Conduct Guidelines and establishes a culture of trust and integrity (e.g. adherence of tax regulations)

  • Ensures efficient communication with all relevant internal and external stakeholders, i.e. HR, Quality Management, EHS, customers, suppliers, consortium partners

  • Actively gathers information on customer, strategies, requirements and targets regarding commercial aspects

What do I need for this role?

  • Significant experience in Quantity Surveying / Commercial Management
  • Chartered Quantity Surveyor would be advantageous (RICS / CICES)

  • Knowledge of contractual terms and conditions (FIDIC)

  • Experience in setting up and negotiating terms and conditions of sub contracts

  • Experience in project budgeting, financial management of risk, opportunities and claims.

  • Experience in different finance related functions, e.g. order processing, project controlling.

  • Strong expertise in SAP and MS Office.

  • Process oriented with analytical skills and strict adherence to timelines.

  • Diligent in documentation and accurate in work preparation.

  • Strong communication skills & team oriented collaboration skills due to multiple interfaces in international teams.
