Role Overview:

They are seeking an experienced and dynamic Glasshouse Operations Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of their state-of-the-art glasshouse facility. This role is crucial in ensuring operational excellence, financial efficiency, and the overall success of their glasshouse operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Management: Oversee daily operations of the glasshouse.
  • Financial Accountability: Manage the Glasshouse P&L account and set/deliver yearly budgets.
  • Health & Safety: Proactively ensure a safe working environment by adhering to company Health & Safety policies.
  • Site Maintenance: Oversee site maintenance and manage service contracts.
  • Labour Management: Plan labour needs, recruit staff, and ensure effective training and management of the team.
  • Technical Compliance: Work closely with the technical team to ensure produce is safe, traceable, and compliant.
  • Leadership: Provide line management for the management team, supervisors, and glasshouse workers.
  • Technology: Stay updated with the latest technology to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Planning & Reporting: Manage short and long-term work plans, labour planning, and productivity tracking systems. Produce accurate reports.
  • Forecasting & Pricing: Set long-term production forecasts and review crop sale prices in collaboration with the Commercial team.
  • Supplier Relationships: Develop and manage relationships with external suppliers.
  • On-Call Duties: Participate in call-outs and weekend duties as per the rota.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as required by your line manager.

What We Want To See From You:

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years in an operations management role supplying UK supermarkets. Experience in a glasshouse environment is preferred.
  • Leadership Skills: Excellent leadership and people management skills.
  • Organisational Skills: Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • IT Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and various systems.
  • Analytical Skills: Good analytical and data management skills.
  • Communication: Professional manner with effective communication skills.
  • Work Ethic: Proactive, flexible, and willing to take responsibility and ownership of tasks.
  • Team Player: Ability to work independently and as part of a multifunctional team.
