Whether you’re talking about length, mass, time, temperature, electric current, amount or the brightness of light, the National Physical Laboratory sets the standards by which these things are all measured. Only our Principal Project Managers get to work on our most strategically-intricate, technically complex, commercially and politically sensitive projects. It’s work that matters on a potentially global scale.   At NPL, we touch ordinary lives in extraordinary ways and you could too.

As Principle Project Manager within the Transformation team - you will play a highly strategic and visible role, as you work with a range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure that the build of our Advanced Quantum Metrology Laboratory (AQML) is delivered on time, on budget and to the highest quality – as well as being strictly compliant to our governance standards.

The AQML will provide a unique scientific environment, enhancing NPL's reputation as a world-leading centre of excellence in developing and applying the most accurate measurement standards, science and technology available.

You will  take the lead in setting the tone for the team and for the project delivery – communicating what’s happening at every step, so that we remain focussed across the entire project lifecycle. From highlighting any risks, to budgeting, forecasting, and issuing reports and invoices in a timely manner, you’re always on top of the detail whilst keeping tabs on the bigger picture.

You’ll also make certain the right resources are available for the project in hand and will strive to integrate any processes and methodologies that will help us improve.
