Automation Project Manager Manchester / Basingstoke / Home based

To £55k + car + extremely generous benefits

Our client is a global leader in the development and supply of automation, service and technology solutions to an array of clients throughout the world, and as a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced Automation Project Manager to complement their established and highly professional team tasked with maximising profitability of customer businesses through production optimization and process automation solutions integration.

The successful Automation Project Manager will lead a range of automation solutions delivery projects in the UK and will work closely with customers to both develop relationships and ensure that products meet customer expectations whilst taking full responsibility for ontime and inbudget projects delivery.

Tasks will include the preparation of project plans, managing the contract, project profitability, project schedule management, internal and external reporting, risk management, as well as managing contractual disputes with customers and subcontractors, operating as part of the Project Management team serving European customers from offices based in Basingstoke or Manchester or possibly home based with suitable experience and demonstrable success in working on this basis.

You will be intrinsically involved with projects from the initial sales and quotation stages through to complete project management, delivery and handover, including resource planning and risk management whilst coordinating the activities of the projects team, ensuring compliance with all aspects of HSE and liaising extensively with the customer throughout and attending project meetings with both internal and external customers as well as suppliers as required (so a full clean UK driving licence is essential for the role as well as the flexibility to occasionally undertake overnight stays away from home).

To be considered for this varied, diverse and extremely challenging and rewarding Automation Project Manager opportunity, it is envisaged that the successful candidate will have attained a Masters Degree in Automation / Electrical / Energy Engineering or equivalent along with strong knowledge of processes and customers aligned to the energy, process or marine industries, and be able to demonstrate at least 3 years experience gained in the management of complex projects. You will possess excellent project management and negotiation skills as well as a good understanding of project economics and essentially able to adopt a customer service mindset.
