We are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Mechanical Engineer (Project Support) to join the engineering team on a fixed term contract at a bioethanol plant located at Wilton.

This contract role offers an opportunity to apply mechanical engineering expertise in both project and plant support. You ll be the initial contact for technical project queries, scoping maintenance needs, and ensuring safe, efficient operation across all areas of the plant.

This is a key role for an engineer with a strong background in heavy industry or bioethanol production, capable of coordinating critical tasks and collaborating with contractors and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical project support, managing requests for information (RFIs) and maintenance scopes for new plant installations
  • Lead mechanical breakdown resolution and ensure quick, safe return to operations
  • Drive root cause analysis (RCA) sessions, ensuring prompt completion of corrective actions
  • Oversee task ownership, including risk assessments, safe work plans, permits, and inductions
  • Collaborate in shutdown planning, contributing to the success of scheduled and unscheduled stops
  • Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to ensure quality standards

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum HNC in Mechanical Engineering; BEng (Hons) preferred
  • Significant project experience in a similar industry, ideally on a top-tier COMAH site
  • Competency in CMMS and statutory inspections databases
  • Proven experience in maintenance planning, RCA, and project coordination within heavy industry
  • Strong communication skills with an ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
  • Familiarity with safety and regulatory standards applicable to heavy engineering and bioethanol production
