We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the construction of a self-storage unit in Havant, Portsmouth. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with a strong background in commercial, industrial, or warehouse construction projects. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the project is delivered to the highest standards, on time, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Leadership:

  • Oversee and manage the entire construction process from pre-construction to project close-out.
  • Lead a multidisciplinary team including site managers, engineers, and subcontractors.
  • Provide strategic direction and resolve complex issues to ensure smooth project delivery.

Health & Safety Oversight:

  • Champion health and safety policies, ensuring compliance across all site activities.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the client, ensuring their expectations are met or exceeded.
  • Foster positive relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants.

Budget and Financial Management:

  • Take full accountability for project budgets, ensuring financial controls are in place.
  • Prepare and present detailed cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and financial updates.

Program & Scheduling:

  • Develop and manage the master project program, identifying critical paths and potential risks.
  • Proactively address delays or issues to keep the project on track.

Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure all construction work aligns with design specifications, building regulations, and quality standards.
  • Lead site inspections, commissioning, and snagging processes.

Essential Skills & Experience:

Industry Expertise:

  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience managing commercial, industrial, or warehouse construction projects.
  • Extensive experience working with main contractors.
  • Familiarity with self-storage or similar facility construction is highly desirable.

Leadership & Communication:

  • Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to manage and motivate large teams.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Technical & Commercial Acumen:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of UK building regulations and industry best practices.
  • Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to manage project complexities.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as MCIOB or MRICS are advantageous.
  • SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certification.
  • CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card.
  • First Aid and temporary works coordination qualifications are preferred.
