We do this by offering advice, grants and loans.

The AHF is about to embark on a number of new initiatives, including the 'Transforming Places through Heritage' programme, designed to help revitalise high streets and town centres through the development of sustainable new uses for historic buildings.

Job type: Full Time, 3.5 years Fixed Term Contract
Salary: GBP33,000 to GBP35,000 per annum

Closing date: 17th June 2019
Interviews will take place in late June/early July 2019

About the role:

The Programme Officers will assess grant applications and help manage a caseload of projects within a defined geographic portfolio, provide advice and guidance to individual projects and liaise with external partners to achieve common objectives in addressing the Transforming Places Programme's priorities. From first contact, through pre-approval and preparation of case papers, you will liaise with applicants, colleagues and key stakeholders to ensure the process runs smoothly, communication is clear, and expectations are managed and met.

The post holder will act as the lead regional contact with staff at Historic England, local authorities and other partner organisations to target support, ensuring the AHF intervention adds value to partners' activities and other relevant programmes.

In addition, your challenge will be to co-ordinate an engaging programme of activities and events targeted at organisations developing historic building regeneration projects in town and city centre locations.

About you:

We are looking for self-motivated Programme Officers with a desire to deliver a sustainable future for historic buildings throughout England. And with a background in social / community / charitable enterprise support, funding or capacity building organisations. You will have an understanding of the issues affecting asset development involving social enterprise and charities (particularly when involving historic buildings) and heritage led regeneration, display exceptional stakeholder engagement skills and have the ability to influence individuals and organisations to achieve positive outcomes, along with a proven track record in collaborative work with external partners.

Candidates should have proven project management skills, exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain a positive energy in moving projects towards a successful outcome, solving problems along the way.

There will be flexibility in terms of how the geographic regions are defined to manage workloads across the team. Broad geographic portfolios for the Programme Officer roles are: North, Midlands, South East & East of England, South West. Regular travel to the AHF's London office and partners' regional offices will also be required.

Commitment to diversity:

In accordance with our commitment to promote equality of opportunity and diversity across all of our areas of work, we particularly welcome applications from people from black, Asian and minority ethnic communities, disabled people and younger people, who are currently under-represented within AHF.
