Network Rail is at the heart of revitalising Britain’s railway. From the rejuvenation of King’s Cross station and the upgrade and expansion of Thameslink, to Europe’s largest civil engineering project – Crossrail - we are involved in some of the most ambitious and diverse ventures the UK has ever seen. This will help us deliver the better railway that is vital for the economic prosperity of this country, transforming how people travel and make a massive difference to passengers and freight users right across Britain.

Due to an increasing workload (in terms of value, volume and complexity) it’s an exciting time to join our team as we grow and develop our Asset Protection capabilities in the Eastern region.

We have a number of opportunities across project/construction management and engineering based at our four office locations.

The Asset Protection team assists external parties in the delivery of works that interface with the operational railway. We respond to 2500 queries per year ranging from simple lineside matters through to major interfacing projects (such as new bridges/major line adjacent developments) and including multimillion pound multidisciplinary schemes promoting external investment in the railway. Clients range from lineside neighbours through to government departments and blue chip companies.

We support the delivery of major projects by providing the interface and assurance roles for clients wishing to invest in the railway under the Open for Business programme initiatives. Current investment projects include new and enhanced stations and upgrades of existing freight lines to accommodate passenger services.

Delivering our projects to a high standard is of vast importance to this project and Network Rail, this role plays a significant part in helping the Scheme and Project Managers.

Are you looking for flexibility and a great work life balance? We can accommodate flexible working hours, and actively encourage part time applications.

As a Project Management Assistant you will support the project management team by helping to deliver high profile projects on time and within budget by using the latest in project management tools and techniques.

Using your excellent organisation skills you will process and monitor contractor possession and isolation applications so that the applications are completed and submitted in time, this will also involve health and safety risk assessments that have been carried out by contractors.

It’s not necessary for you to have rail industry experience. In fact, what will set you apart is your motivation and natural flair for dealing with people at all levels.

Do you have….?

  • Knowledge of project management, construction, safety, environmental, commercial or financial experience?
  •  A degree or equivalent?
  • An understanding of possession planning?
  • Health and safety awareness and issues within contraction?

Are you….?

  • Highly organised and focused?
  • Able to communicate to people at all levels of the business?
  • Enthusiastic with good attention to detail?
  • Ambition to progress within the organisation?
