Humayon Pramanik
Director of Communications and External Affairs – CommunicationsI have worked at APM now for almost four years. I'm the Director of Communications and External Affairs, and I’m lucky enough to oversee three teams in policy and public affairs, communications and marketing expertly led by Andrew, Matt and Sophie.
I was genuinely taken aback by just how approachable people are at APM. In a weird way, as so many seemingly feel this way (as I hear this being said all the time), it has become a bit of an APM cliche (one we can be really proud of).
The other thing is that people are very open to new ideas and new thinking which is right up my street. The other slightly underrated quality about APM is that we’re a very humble organisation given our size and growth.
We have a global footprint, lots of members, count some of the biggest organisations in the world as corporates and our qualifications are massively popular.
Despite this, there aren’t any airs and graces about the place.
My favourite thing about working for APM? I'm not going to say the people as it’s the obvious thing to say (because its true).
If I had to pick something else, I’d say our ambition. I really enjoy working for an organisation that is genuinely going places, that has real impact and represents a profession involved in incredibly exciting things.
One day we’re talking to government about huge public infrastructure projects that could provide society with a constant stream of benefits for 30 years and the next day we’re talking to corporates launching rockets into space.
A second cliche for you...no two days are the same...(sorry).
Also, our people are everything. (Too corny?)
I’ve always felt a sense of acceptance at APM. No matter your story, background or anything else, respect is reserved for all.
People will go out of their way to make others feel comfort and contentment in their roles, and that is something that not all organisations can claim.
About Association for Project Management
We’re Association for Project Management (APM). We’re a professional membership organisation that sets the standards for the project profession. As a registered charity, we reinvest our surplus for the benefit of our members and the profession.
We deliver education and develop qualifications. We conduct research and provide knowledge and resources. We run events and share best practice. We give people the opportunity to connect and provide community for our individual members and corporate partners, wherever they are. Above all, when doing so makes a difference, we challenge the status quo.
